Detroit Bass Fest, 2012
While still on our high (or, perhaps more appropriately, our “low”) from this year’s Bass Player Live! event, FBPO attended the Detroit Bass Fest on November 17, 2012.
The gathering, spearheaded by Detroit bass enthusiast Lester Collie, featured performers Bill Clements, Jauqo III-X, Doug Johns and Nate Watts.
Many hard-core bass junkies were spotted in the crowd, including Ralphe Armstrong, Ivan “Big Ive” Williams, Vuyana Wakaba, Reginald Canty and other low-end loyalists.
The great city of Detroit not only gave us Armstrong and Watts, but also proudly lays claim to other bass royalty, including Ron Carter, Paul Chambers, James Jamerson and Bob Babbitt. We thank Lester Collie for keeping the tradition alive!
